This is a Foundation level beginner’s course in locksmithing, designed to get you started in a new career. The course is two days, taught at our training centre in Gravesend, Kent, and covers four sessions.

All of our courses are taught with a mixture of theory and practical sessions, with an emphasis on hands-on teaching. This allows our learners to leave the training confident in their skills, and able to put these skills to work.

  • Explanation of Euro Cylinders
  • Key Part naming
  • Stripping Down/Rebuilding a Cylinder lock
  • Explanation of Cylinder locks picking techniques
  • Opening of a Garage/Cabinet Lock
  • Cylinder locks picking using a Pick Gun 
  • Explanation of Basic Key Mastering System

Session 2

  • Demonstration of Lock Bypass technique using  mica card
  • Explanation / Demonstration of Letter Box tool
  • Euro Cylinder Change/MPL Measurements/Ordering details
  • Bump Keys

Session 3

  • Explanation of a mortise dead / sash lock
  • Key part naming
  • Stripping down of a 2 lever lock
  • Demonstration of 2 lever jiggler keys
  • Stripping down of 3 lever lock 
  • Demonstration of 3 Lever jiggler keys
  • Creation of a Service kit using interchangeable parts 

Session 4

  • Explanation /Demo of 3 lever Over Lifting technique
  • Explanation/Demo of the use of 2 in 1 pick
