How to wire a door contact to an intruder alarm panel?
This article explains how to wire a grade 2 magnetic door contact to an intruder alarm panel. Whether you are using a Texecom, Galaxy, Pyronix, Scantronic or any other make, its the same principle in wiring the circuit.
The magnetic reed switch is the most commonly used detector, and it exists in a wide variety of forms. It comprises an internal mechanism of two slender metal reeds sealed in a glass tube and positioned so that ends overlaps and do not touch.
Actuation is by the placing of a magnet in close proximity, which causes the reeds to make physical and thus electrical contact by mutual attraction.

The contact resistor should be wired across the reeds to provide an alternative route.
There are a couple of different ways to wire a door contact circuit.
By wiring, the contact resistor across the connectors will provide an alternative path to reeds.
