Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About the Courses

What is the duration of the courses?

Most of our courses are 3 days. Some of our advanced courses, and the Level 2 Locksmithing Course, are 2 days. All courses are taught at our training centre in Kent (except our online CCTV course).

During the Intruder Alarm training course, what panels are used?

In our Level 3 Award in Intruder Alarm Installation course,  we use the Texecom Elite 24 panel.  We focused mainly on intruder warning circuitry, as well as double pole and double end of line wiring. This refers to any brand, such as Galaxy, Pyronix, Scantronic, and so on.

The learner should be able to wire any brand of the intruder alarm panel once he or she has a clear understanding of circuitry. When it comes to programming zones and functionality, manufacturers offer a range of instructional videos and tools to help engineers learn more about a specific brand.

What brands are used during the CCTV Installation course?

We strive to keep our training course free of any exclusive brands. Our classrooms, on the other hand, are fitted with Hikvision, Dahua and Qvis CCTV cameras. Learners will get hands-on experience with these brands, but we will also teach them the fundamentals of analogue and IP CCTV systems, which will enable them to install any brand.

What brands are used during the Fire Alarm Installation course?

In our Fire Alarm Installation course, we use C-Tec and Twinflex panels. Learners will learn how to install and commission the panel according to British standards.

Is 3 days enough time to learn everything?

At the end of the course, learners will have very strong knowledge and skillset. However, it will be beneficial for you to have a background in a trade in order to go straight from this course to installing systems on your own own. Please speak to our course advisor for further details.

How many learners attend the course?

Typically around 5 – 6 learners attend the course. Each learner is provided with their own work station.

Where are the courses held?

All our courses are taught at our training centre in Kent, except the online course. Full address can be found on the contact page.

What are the pre-requisites for these courses?

There are no pre-requisites, as our courses are suitable for beginners. However, experience using tools, such as screwdrivers and ladders, is useful.

Should I have an ECS card?

There has been a lot of confusion about ECS cards in the fire and security sector, especially among students. This article outlines the new FESS (Fire, Emergency, and Security Systems) programme, introduced by the ECS, and how to apply for a card under it. Be cautious of training centres that claim that completing their programmes will instantly allow you to apply for an ECS.

The Fire, Emergency, and Security Systems (FESS) has produced an Occupational Qualification Structure. This structure is in line with the industry’s standards and the fragmented skills of the current workforce. Click here to Learn more
