CCTV London – It was revealed that only one crime was solved by each 1,000 CCTV cameras in London by city’s surveillance network report. In 2009, nationwide government spent £500m on CCTV cameras but analysts believe there are still room for improvements. Met has been criticised of not acting fast in resolving the issues related to ineffectiveness of CCTV. A Home Office spokeswoman said CCTVs “help communities feel safer” and spokesman for the Met said that 70% of murder investigations have been solved with the help of CCTV footage.
This shows there
is a clear need for effective CCTV systems and installers. In many cases cameras are not delivering the expected results. Very common issues are:
- System left unattended for long time
- Not working
- Blurry images
- Wrong cameras were installed
- Lack of user training
