ECS Gold Card eligibility is determined solely by ECS and depends on:

  • Your work experience

  • Completion of the appropriate recognised route, which for security currently includes the Experienced Worker Assessment (EWA) delivered through approved awarding bodies

Completion of this course does not guarantee eligibility for an ECS Gold Card on its own. Learners are strongly advised to check the latest ECS requirements directly and speak with our course advisors to understand the most appropriate pathway.

Additional ECS requirements may include:

  • ECS Health, Safety & Environmental Assessment

  • Evidence of workplace competence

  • Completion of a recognised EWA route where applicable

Unit 2: Introduction to CCTV Systems

  • System overview, video signals (H.265+, MPEG-2), analogue vs IP, DVR vs NVR, megapixel systems.

Unit 3: Electrical & CCTV Installation

  • Ohm’s Law, power supply installation, PoE, safe use of electrical tools, cable selection.

Unit 4: Cabling & Connectivity

  • CAT5/CAT6/Coax/RG59, crimping BNC/keystone, baluns, shotgun cable, junction boxes, containment.

Unit 5: System Design & Camera Configuration

  • Resolution, frame rate, FoV, lens selection, FPS, DVR/NVR storage planning, lighting, PTZ etup.

Unit 6: Testing, Commissioning & Fault Finding

  • Cable testing, image verification, system testers, common faults (BNC oxidation, PoE overruns, IR reflection), handover documentation

Unit 7: IP Networking & Remote Access
