Cube Group launches a new 10-day Work Trial programme to support student employability

Cube Group Training, a leading fire and security training provider, has launched a 10-day Work-Trial, a new and forward-thinking strategic initiative that will allow learners to receive vital practical skills and work experience after completing classroom training.

Employers can assess a candidate’s technical skills and aptitudes before hiring. The candidate will be given several tasks relevant to the field during the trial. If the candidate completes the assessments to a satisfactory level, they will be hired.

Philip Williams, Akita Security’s SSAIB-accredited company director, welcomed Cube’s initiative for helping learners gain experience in the fire and security industry. “If you’re looking to start a new career in the fire and security field, this program will be beneficial,” he added.

The core purpose of the program is to equip learners with the knowledge and skills they need for the workplace to be able to access employment opportunities in the UK and overseas. Many employers have praised the idea of encouraging Cube learners to develop practical skills through participation in this 10-day Work-trial programme.

10-day Job-Trial for fire and security engineer new career

Hiring Fire & Security Engineer?

Fire & security engineers should be hired based on their abilities rather than their resumes. Our work trial programme allows you to assess a candidate’s technical skills by putting them through a hassle-free 10-day work trial. Please see the brochure below for further details.

All confirmed new Cube Group Training learners who have completed at least three of the following courses are eligible for the 10-day Work-Trial.

  • Cube Level 3 Award in CCTV Installation (course code CQ11434)
  • Cube Level 3 Award in Intruder Alarm Installation (course code CQ 11433)
  • Cube Level 3 Award in Fire Alarm Installation (course code CQ11128)
  • Cube Level 3 Award in IP CCTV and Security Integration (course code CQ11120)
  • Cube Level 3 Award in Access Control and Door Entry Installation (course code CQ11180)

All 10-day Work-Trial participants will have access to the following services:

    • Writing a CV: Learners will learn how to create a visually appealing CV that promotes their work experience and qualifications.
    • Interview preparation and practise interviews: We will prepare learners to face interviews with confidence in order to boost their chances of securing a job offer.
    • Access to employment opportunities: Learners will be given specialised guidance in accessing online job boards and other job portals to find work prospects.

What is the procedure for the Work-Trial?

Once you have completed three qualifications with Cube, you will be required to fill out an application form to attend the Work-Trial programme.

We make every effort to place our learners, but the final decision on whether or not to hire them rests with the employer. As a result, we can’t promise a job trial, and it’s not part of the qualifications.

Will I be compensated for my time on the Work-Trial?

Yes, you will be paid the national minimum wage.

How long will the Work-Trial last?

The duration of this Work-Trial is strictly ten days. The contract can be terminated at any time by either party giving the other 24 hours’ notice.

Is it possible to do a 5-day Work Trial instead of a 10-day Work Trial?

No, you must attend for at least 10 days.

Will Cube assist me in obtaining an ECS or CSCS card?

We are unable to assist you; nevertheless, the majority of employers are eager to assist you in obtaining an ECS or CSCS card.

Can I still apply if I haven’t completed more than three Cube courses?

This programme is for new students, and you must complete at least three courses to be eligible. This programme is also open to past students who have completed three courses with us.

The advantages of the Work-Trial programme are:

    • It allows you to demonstrate your worth to an employer over a period of 10 days rather than depending solely on a brief interview.
    • It gives you time to think about whether the type of work, hours, employer and other factors are right for you.
    • Work-Trial is completely voluntary, and after ten days, you have complete freedom to accept or reject a job offer.
    • You’ll be paid the national minimum wage, with some employers covering your food and transportation costs.
    • Cube will monitor the work trial to ensure that both your and the employer’s interests are protected.

    Eligibilities:

    • You have completed at least three of the above training courses with Cube.
    • You have the right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
    • You live and work in the UK.
    • You should be at least 18 years of age at the time of this application.
    • You are willing to go through DBS (Disclosure and bearing service) check.
    • You should be prepared to work for at least 10 days.
